Rail project: Lagos state set to close major roads in Ikeja, Iganmu
- The ongoing railway modernisation project will affect some Lagosians for at least two days

- The government said that the roads will be closed on Friday, January 10 and Saturday, January 11
Following the ongoing Nigerian railway modernisation project, the Lagos state government has announced that there will be restriction of traffic in Ikeja GRA on Friday, January 10, and Brewery Level Crossing in Iganmu on Saturday, January 11.
According to the Ministry of Transportation, the road closure will span from 8pm to 6am on both days.
The state government advised motorists plying Ikeja GRA to make use of alternative routes along Ilupeju level crossing via Old Abeokuta expressway.
The government also urged commuters to use Costain and Orile-Iganmu corridor, Bode Thomas Street and Eric Moore Road.

It called on residents in the state to endure the brief discomfort as the government is doing its utmost to bring about an enjoyable and seamless and modern transportation system that will benefit everyone.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that in a bid to end the usual gridlock on major roads, the state government had begun improvements of some junctions.
This was confirmed by the commissioner for transportation in the state, Frederic Oladeinde, on Friday, December 27.
Oladeinde said that the move is one of Governor Sanwo-Olu's ways of fulfilling his promises at the beginning of his administration.
The commissioner said that the improvement of junctions will be done in areas like 2nd Roundabout Lekki/Epe Expressway, Ikotun, Allen Avenue and Maryland.
He further explained that the junctions needs expansion as they can no longer meet the needs of the growing population of the state.
On his part, the commissioner for information and strategy, Omotoso, called on Lagosians to be patient with the state government as it continues to make efforts towards tackling the issue of gridlock.
