Jesse Lingard faces Man United axe after poor show against Manchester City

Jesse Lingard is reportedly on the verge of being axed at Manchester United following his poor performance against Manchester City in the Carabao Cup.

Manchester United on Tuesday night, January 7, suffered an embarrassing home defeat in the EFL Cup semifinal first leg against Manchester City in which Lingard failed to impress.

His game was said to have annoyed Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer who substituted him at half time.

Before, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has protected Jesse Lingard' performance at Manchester United, but after the defeat against City, he has lost his patience.

According to the report on UK Sun, Manchester United assistant coach Mike Phelan was also furious claiming that Jesse Lingard refused to listen to instructions against City.

Jesse Lingard is now expected to be replaced by Juan Mata for Saturday, January 11, visit by Norwich which is a must win game for Manchester United.

Lingard’s contract at Manchester United runs until the end of next season and he is reported to be using agent Mino Raiola who is also handling Pogba and other stars.

United fans are also livid with Jesse Lingard following his inability to score any Premier League goal throughout the year 2019.

Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Manchester United captain Ashley Young reportedly snubbed a new contract deal with the Old Trafford side as he wants a move to Italian giants Inter Milan.

The 34-year-old England international is expected to move to Italy on a free transfer next summer and he can even join Inter Milan before the January 2019 transfer window closes.
