President Muhammadu Buhari has empasised that he would be fair to all Nigerians irrespective of their religions, tribes, political parties, among others.
Nigerian Tribune reports that the president gave the assurance on Monday, January 6, during the inauguration and handing over of Umunze erosion/flood control and road improvement works in Orumba South of Anambra state.
Legit.ng gathered that the president, who was represented by the minister of state for environment, Sharon Okeazor, said that no part of the country would suffer any neglect owing to its geographical location or political considerations.
“The present administration under me promised that no part of the country will suffer any neglect owing to its geographical location or political considerations and I am committed to making sure that everybody is treated equally in the country. This is a testimony to that. I will remain faithful to all parts of the country,” he said.
The president also said that erosion menace has become one of the major challenges in Anambra state, assuring federal government committed to addressing it frontally.
He urged the residents to stop indiscriminate dumping of refuse, as it is one of the major cause of erosion.
Speaking at the occasion, the governor of Anambra state, Willie Obiano, who thanked the Federal Government for the good work, said the state was losing its little land to erosion.
Obiano who was also represented by the deputy governor, Nkem Okeke, said that Anambra state has the smallest landmass in the country and erosion was rapidly taking it over.
“Erosion is one of the major challenges in the state. It is taking our little land rapidly. Please, stop indiscriminate waste disposal, don’t build on waterway and drainage. These are the major causes of erosion and we must avoid them,” he stated.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had previously reported that President Buhari expressed deep sadness over the gas explosion which led to the death of the Chairman, Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission, Professor Simon Mallam, his son and three others at Sabon Tasha area of Kaduna on Saturday, January 4.
