Juventus vs Cagliari ended 4-0 in favour of the Bianconeri as they maintain top spot in Serie A.

Cristiano Ronaldo's second half hat-trick including Gonzalo Higuain's strike gave Maurizio Sarri's side all three points in front of their home fans at the Allianz Stadium.

Despite playing a first half draw with Cagliari, the defending champions went on rampage in the second half as the Portuguese ran the show.

Four minutes after the restart, the 34-year-old took advantage of a defensive blunder as he rounded Robin Olsen in goal before putting the ball in the back of the net to make it 1-0.

Ronaldo made it 2-0 after Paulo Dybala was brought down in the box as the Juve striker grabbed his second when he sent Olsen the wrong way in the 69th minute.

Substitute Higuain got the third for the Bianconeri in the 81st minute, as Ronaldo turned provider for the Argentine whose shot deflected off a defender and went straight into the net.

A minute later, Douglas Costa swift counter-attacking move saw Ronaldo complete his hat-trick as the Portuguese striker made it 4-0 for the champions.

Juventus kept a clean sheet as they open the New Year with a comprehensive win over Cagliari.
