Boris Johnson warns Trump against bombing Iran's cultural sites

The prime minister of the United Kingdom, Boris Johnson, has cautioned President Donald Trump of the United States against carrying out his threat to bomb 52 Iranian cultural sites.

The UK Independent reports that Johnson's spokesman said bombing cultural sites and heritage is against international conventions.

Recall that Trump had threatened to attack no fewer than 52 Iranian targets to bring down the middle east country if it dares to carry out threats of attacks on America.

President Trump said the US will not take any threats from Iran and the world power would hit "very fast and very hard" at the Iranians.

Speaking on the US' airstrike that killed Iran's military commander, Qasem Soleimani, the prime minister's spokesperson said countries have a right "to take action such as this in self-defence".

He added that the US has clearly stated that Soleimani was plotting imminent attacks on American diplomats and military personnel.

The British prime minister also urged Iraq not to expel foreign troops as it has planned, saying the forces should be allowed to continue their operations.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that President Trump has threatened to impose sanctions on Iraq after it called on the troops of the United States to leave.

Recall that the Iraqi parliament has supported a resolution calling on the troops of the US and other foreign countries to leave the country.

Trump on Sunday, January 5, said sanctions will be imposed on Iraq if it asked the US troops to leave without doing so on a friendly basis.

"We will charge them sanctions like they've never seen before ever. It'll make Iranian sanctions look somewhat tame," President Trump was quoted to have said.
