Zlatan Ibrahimovic's statue has been finally deformed by angry Malmo football fans as fury continues to trail the Swedish star's recent purchase of a 25% stake in rival club Hammarby.
Ibra became the latest football star to venture into club ownership after buying a chunk of percentage in a Swedish topflight which was announced on Wednesday, November 27.
The development, however, irked Malmo fans who went to deface and burn his giant statue built outside Swedbank Stadion in a courageous show of displeasure.
Zlatan started his football career with his hometown outfit Malmo in 1995 as a youngster where he scored 18 goals in 47 games before completing a move to Ajax.
Acknowledging his greatness in Sweden football and his link to the Malmo, the Swedish side built a towering figure of the football star in their old and new club.
But Ibrahimovic's ego took an unusual dent after his statue was damaged outside by angry fans who are protesting against his recent partnership with the rival club Hammarby.
According to Daily star, the 3.5 metre high structure was immediately targeted by vandals, who have sprayed it with paint, set it on fire and placed a toilet seat over its arm.
The statue’s nose was cut off, and in a worse turn of event, the towering statue has now been finally deformed and crashed down, while also placing a black t-shirt with a Sweden flag over its head.
Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Zlatan Ibrahimovic has reportedly agreed to a deal that will make him seal a sensational return to Italian giants AC Milan.
The Swedish star is set for a Serie A move at 38 after mutually parting ways with American side LA Galaxy with an impressive 53 goals in 58 appearances.
