- Chelsea vs Nottingham saw Blues record another resounding victory at Stamford Bridge
- Callum Hudson-Odoi and Ross Barkley showed loads of promise with first half goals
- Reece James and Pedro also combined experience and flashes of brilliance to help Blues secure cool home win
Chelsea vs Nottingham game ended in 2-0 victory for the Premier League side as they successfully took a bold leap into the next phase after a tough FA Cup encounter on Sunday evening.
Frank Lampard made a surprising starting inclusion which saw Caballero between the sticks with Pedro, Batshuayi and Callum Hudson-Odoi leading the attack-line.
Hudson-Odoi justified Lampard's faith in him by firing Chelsea into an early lead in the 6th minute of the game, all thanks to Pedro who gave a sublime assist.
Nottingham looked like a side to stage a miracle but Chelsea's ruthless dominance in the first half saw them double their lead in the 33rd minute.
Hudson-Odoi's effort was too hot for Smith to handle as Ross Barkley fired into the net of their visitors through a rebound.
Chelsea looked dangerous in the second half, getting all the possessions right in their pouch but Nottingham made some improvement in their defence which made Blues' attack less productive.
Lampard was forced to make some tactical changes with Pedro making way for another youngster Tariq Lamptey in the 69th minute.
Mason Mount was also brought in for tired Mateo Kovacic to boost the attack-line already looking less of a threat to the visitors.
Meanwhile, Batshuayi missed some great chances that could have earned Chelsea more goals but eventually, Hudson-Odoi and Reece James' flashes of brilliance, coupled with Pedro and Christense were all Chelsea needed as they sealed a comfortable victory over the Championship side.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that Bayern Munich defender, David Alaba, has reportedly emerged a transfer target for Chelsea, with the Premier League giants ready to splash a whopping £60million on the Austrian star.
Frank Lampard is ready to boost his squad after Chelsea transfer ban was halved by CAC last year, and the Blues boss is eyeing a move for a couple of stars including Jadon Sancho and Wilfried Zaha.
