Goalkeeper Tom Heaton has also been ruled out for the rest of the season as Aston Villa manager Dean Smith is now under serious pressure.
Smith only has Jonathan Kodjia available up front, and with Wesley’s injury meaning he may have to bring in two new forwards before the January transfer window closes.
Adebayor's representatives are aware of Aston Villa's current situation and they are ready to allow the Togolese footballer to make a return to the Premier League.
