Former governor allegedly planning to destabilise Zamfara's peace, economy - Peace envoy alleges

- A peace network has alleged that a former governor of Zamfara state is plotting the destabilise the peace in the state

- The network alleged that the former governor recruited the services of some local government chairmen to actualize his inordinate ambition of destabilising the state

- According to the network, all concerned patriots in the state and Nigeria as a whole should be on the watch and for proactive actions to be taken

A former governor of Zamfara, Abdulaziz yari, has been accused of planning to destabilise the peace and economy of the state.

The Peace Advocates Network of Nigeria (PANN) alleged that the former governor is plotting to destabilize the state through sponsored banditry.

Speaking during a press briefing in Abuja on Friday, January 3, the peace network called on concerned patriots to be on the watch and for proactive actions to be taken.

The national president of PANN, Chinedu Okoli, said the former governor recruited the services of some local government chairmen to actualize his inordinate ambition of destabilising the state.

Okoli warned that Yari should be held responsible should upsurge of crime and criminalities is recorded in Zamfara and other states in the northwest.

The group, however, advised the form governor to desist from this act that could potentially cause havoc in the state else face the consequences.

"We wish to state that we have it on competent authority that Abdulaziz Yari has been mobilizing bandits and other criminal elements to unleash terror in the state since the governor, Bello Matawalle introduced some far-reaching measures aimed towards putting the state on the path of progress," Okoli said.

Further challenging the former governor to deny the allegation, the network said Yari does not have the interest of the state at heart.

"The Peace Advocates Network of Nigeria wishes to state that it is also a known fact that the ex-governor, Abdulaziz Yari harbours disdain for the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari for standing on the side of truth and the great efforts towards ending the menace of armed banditry and other criminalities in Zamfara state that were instigated by former governor Abdulaziz Yari," the network said.

Okoli also said the network would not hesitate to call for a demonstration march in protest of the nefarious activities of the former governor.

Okoli added: "We will also drag him to the ICC for war crimes committed during his tenure and on the radar of the international police for him to answer questions."

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that a leader of the bandits in Zamfara state, Mohammed Bello, has narrated how he met with the commissioner of Police in a forest.

Bello said he met with Usman Nagogo alongside some of his motorbike-riding gang members for a peace meeting with the Police top brass.
