Mobilisation begins for Bode George to take over from Buhari in 2023

There are indications that Chief Bode George, a former deputy national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has begun the battle to take over from President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023.

George's supporters are said to have commenced mobilisation ahead of the next presidential election.

Daily Trust reports that the 'Pathfinder Consortium', a political group, came into force on Thursday, December 2, to begin the move.

The report said the group is led by Prince Uthman Shodipe-Dosumu, a special adviser to Bode George.

In a statement, Shodipe-Dosunmu said: “The big game is afoot. The grandmasters are now at the chessboard. The manoeuvrings are deepening in thoughtful articulations and firm, deliberate commitment.

“The schemings are widening far beyond the bright and the nocturnal passages. It is settled!

“Our visions stripped of ethnic or sectarian articulations. It is about rebuilding the broken walls, rectifying the festering wrongs, healing the persisting wounds."

He added that the one he called the pathfinder was warming up for the serious business. He promised that the group would challenge, debate, instruct and enlighten the people ahead of the task. reported that President Buhari, on January 1, 2020, promised that he would not stay an extra day after his second term tenure officially ends on May 29, 2023.

The president said this in a nation-wide broadcast to the nation through a speech that came in the form of a letter to Nigerians.

The president also used the opportunity to mention some of the achievements of his administration so far just as he led the citizens into the government's plans in the new year and beyond.
