Liverpool on Thursday night, January 2, defeated Sheffield United in tough Premier League tie thereby going a full year without losing any game in English topflight football.
Since Liverpool lost against Manchester City in the opening game of last season, Jurgen Klopp's men have not been defeated again in the Premier League till today.
They lost only one game last term and also lost the Premier League title to Manchester City on the last day of the season. Liverpool are also the only unbeaten team this term in EPL so far.
Liverpool dominated possession against Sheffield managing 74.8 percent during the 90 minutes and their total of 970 passes is the highest number by any team in a Premier League match.
They completed 874 of those passes which is their most in a Premier League game since Opta began recording stats in 2003. Only Manchester City (three times) have ever completed more.
Having achieved an 'Invincibles' year in 2019, Liverpool still have a long way to go to match the superb season achieved by Arsenal in 2003-04 who were unbeaten throughout.
Meanwhile, Liverpool are still topping the Premier League standings with 58 points after 20 games played this season.
Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Liverpool stretched their unbeaten run in the Premier League to 20 games so far this campaign following their 2-0 win over visiting Sheffield United at Anfield.
A goal each from Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane ensured the Reds kicked off the new year on a winning note as they gradually draw nearer to winning their first EPL title in over three decades.
