- The chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu, has reacted to video of ex-governor, Ayodele Fayose, dancing on a cruising ship with a lady
- Magu says Fayose, who is on trial, is not being persecuted, but simply under prosecution
- The EFCC chairman says the agency is waiting for the next adjourned date for the trial of the case
The video of former governor of Ekiti state, Ayodele Fayose, dancing salsa with a white woman on a cruising ship abroad recently surfaced on the internet resulting in various reactions.
One of those who have spoken about it is the chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu.
Fayose is supposed to be on a medical trip which was granted him while he was being prosecuted by the anti-graft agency.
Premium Times reports that a spokesperson to Magu, Tony Amokeodo, said Fayose is not being persecuted but merely under prosecution.
Noting that the former governor's trial is still ongoing, Amokeodo said the EFCC was waiting for the next adjourned date for the continuation of the case.
”We are not going to react to that video (on) the grounds that the EFCC is prosecuting him, not persecuting him.
”Besides, the court granted him permission to travel abroad for medical attention.
"We are of the opinion that the former governor would have to be in court and that his trial is on course. And we will definitely meet him on the next adjourned date," he said.
Legit.ng reports that while reacting after the video surfaced, Fayose had sent a warning message to those attacking him.
He asked them to mind their business, adding that he was currently enjoying his life.
The ex-governor, who had earlier vowed to remain a pain to his 'haters' if they do not repent in 2020, asked those who were not happy about his latest moves to 'hug transformer'.
