Reports claim the Etihad outfit are on the verge of discussing a possible move for Abraham in the coming months.
The Nigerian-born England striker is currently under contract with the Stamford Bridge outfit until the summer of June 2022.
But the west London club are keen to offer him a long term contract at the Bridge following his remarkable showing since returning from his loan spell with Aston Villa.
Abraham has already notched-up 14 goals and provided four assists in all competitions this season for Frank Lampard's side.
It is understood Abraham wants the same £180,000-a-week salary as team-mate Callum Hudson-Odoi who has struggled to hit top form this season.
Mason Mount, Fikayo Tomori, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Billy Gilmour have already committed with long their term future to the club.
Lampard recently praised Abraham for his impressive start to the Premier League season, scoring 12 goals in the current campaign.
Lampard said: “He’s a personality that’s growing in our dressing room every day with his enthusiasm and his will to win.
“Tammy is a striker that’s near the top of the goalscoring charts in the league, he’s showing his all-round game, stretches defences, and he starts our press.”
The 34-year-old's current deal with the Bianconeri would expire in the summer of 2022 and a new contract discussion is already on the way.
