Riyad Mahrez’s pass was all needed as the Algerian international gave a riot run into Toffee’s defence and passed to the Brazilian who shot in a perfect finish.

Carlo Ancelotti’s men looked more dangerous and wanted to prove Gabriel’s goal were a fluke but City’s defence was too big to break, forcing Tom Davies and Dominic Calvert-Lewin to the hook with yellow cards.

Resilient Everton looked like a side to seal an epic comeback towards the end of the game with Richarlison breaking City’s defence in the 71st minute.

Pep made some changes as part of game plans which saw Mahrez subbed for recuperating Raheem Sterling.

The game ended with Man City sealing another win as they maintain their third position on the Premier League log behind Leicester City and league leaders Liverpool.
