Anthony Joshua: heavyweight champs vows to knockout Deontay Wilder in unification bout

Anthony Joshua believes he can exercise a ruthless dominance on Deontay Wilder and knocks him out before seventh round when they both meet for a unification heavyweight showdown in 2020.

Joshua defeated Mexican star Andy Ruiz in December 2019 in Saudi Arabia to reclaim his heavyweight belts through a unanimous point decision.

The British-Nigerian born fighter has been tipped to stage a massive unification bout with the WBC champion where all belts will be with only one champion.

Joshua he has been mandated to defend his IBF WBA and WBO before June against either of Usyk or Pulev, but he thinks a fight with Wilder may come up in 2020.

Wilder, the 'Bronze Bomber', defended his WBC belt against Cuban fighter Luis Ortiz in November 2019 through a seventh round knock-out.

Analysing Wilder's victory, the heavyweight star boasted that his American boxing star will not be there to pull out another show of knockout miracle with him as he did to Ortiz.

"He wouldn't be there to do that in the seventh round," Joshua told Sky sport.

"I would go in to knock him out. It's heavyweight against heavyweight, champion against champion.

"This is a serious fight, so I ain't going to go in there to try and outbox him for 12 rounds, because of his punching power as well.

"I've got to go in there and take him out. Don't let him get too comfortable in the ring with me," the heavyweight star submitted.

Joshua, who hopes to become first undisputed heavyweight champion since Lennox Lewis in 1999, also said he would like his fight against Wilder to come to hold in United Kingdom.

The 30-year-old Brit said he would want the bout staged in “80,000 people or 15,000 elsewhere."
