The governor of Katsina, Aminu Bello Masari, on January 1, announced the approval of a new minimum wage for workers in the state adding that this takes effect immediately.
The approval was granted by the governor as confirmed by the chairman of the Katsina state's committee on new minimum wage, Alhaji Mustapha Inuwa.
Inuwa, secretary to the state government made the disclosure when he spoke with journalists at the General Muhammadu Buhari House, Katsina.
He said the approval followed the agreement reached between the state government and Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in the state.
Channels Television reports that Comrade Hussaini Hamisu, chairman of the NLC, commended the state government and its team for the successful agreement.
Legit.ng earlier reported that the governor of Bauchi, Bala Mohammed, on Wednesday, January 1, surprised workers in the state by announcing that his government has approved the new minimum wage of N30,000.
The announcement was confirmed in a statement by Alhaji Mohammed Baba, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG).
The government also announced that the approval is with immediate effect.
On his part, Buhari, in a message to Nigerians on new year day, emphasised that his government would focus on the welfare of workers.
