Lionel Messi: Barcelona star stuns onlookers by training at public gym

Lionel Messi clearly showed class and extreme humility after spending his last days of 2019 training in public gym and working out alongside everyday people in his local Argentina home.

The Barcelona superstar got people thunder-struck after being spotted at the local gym on New Year's eve ahead of resumption to La Liga action in January 4.

Messi is considered as one of the greatest stars to ever grace the sport with six Ballon d'Or awards to show off among numerous individual honor.

But despite being a mega superstar, Messi's love for his home country is nulli secundus, hence his visit to his Argentina hometown where he caused huge stir with his presence.

"He entered as one more, I could not believe it," gym worker Valentina Jure told Rosario Nuestro.

"He used the machines like anyone else, he was smiling with everyone. I can't believe it, my phone literally exploded. Journalists and people from all over the world wrote to me."

Interestingly, the superstar footie was watching the highlight of his goals on the screen as locals trooped in to have a glimpse of their idol.

Messi, who helped Barcelona to domestic win last season -- his tenth La Liga title--has scored 13 goals from just 13 appearances for the Spanish champions this season despite having a torrid start due to injury.

The Argentine forward will hope to add to his tally when Barcelona return to action in January against Espanyol.
