Facebook founder, Mark Zuckerberg, has become richer by $27.3billion this year. The rise in wealth came despite growing criticism of his monopoly on social media.

Daily Mail reports that Facebook Inc gained 1.81 per cent after reporting an uptick in users in lucrative markets and its third straight rise in quarterly sales growth in October, helping the CEO bring his new total wealth to $79.4billion.

The 35-year-old made Forbes' top 5 in the list of 500 wealthiest people in the world even though he'd had a tough year.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Facebook, and his wife, Priscilla Chan have said that they would donate 99% of their earnings to the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative (CZI).

They stated their resolve to put that whopping amount of their income in the project during an interview.

Zuckerberg complained about how there are no tools to empower people like scientists, teachers, doctors, who are really in the business of changing lives.

"There are a lot of philanthropies that try to bring capital, right? And help fund important work. But there aren't that many that have the capability to build tools to empower different folks who are on the front lines," he said.

The couple then said that because getting all those tools would cost a lot, they would be giving the initiative almost all their wealth.
