- Granit Xhaka could join German League side Hertha Berlin on loan next month
- The defensive midfielder was excluded from the Gunners side that lost 2-1 to Chelsea in last Premier League game of the year
- Xhaka has a deal with the north Londoners until the summer of 2023
Out-of-favour Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka could embark on a loan move to German League side Hertha Berlin next month.
The Swiss' star was dropped from the Gunners squad that lost 2-1 to Chelsea at the Emirates Stadium in their last Premier League fixture of 2019.
After missing the crucial game against their London rivals, the future of the 27-year-old at his present club has been put in doubt.
SunSport quoting L'Equipe suggested the Switzerland international has played his last game for Mikel Arteta's side.
Xhaka initially joined Arsenal from Bundesliga side Borussia Mönchengladbach in a deal around €45 million. He has however extended his stay at the club until the summer of 2023.
Meanwhile, Hertha Berlin seem to have expressed interest in signing the defensive midfielder this winter but on a short term loan deal until the end of the current season.
The offer also includes an option to sign the player on a permanent basis in a deal worth £25.6million.

His agent Jose Noguera admitted that the former Monchengladbach star has agreed a move to join Hertha.
He stated: "Look, I will say it frankly and honestly, we are in agreement with Hertha BSC and would like to go to Berlin.
"We have told Arsenal’s club boss Raul Sanllehi and sporting director Edu Gaspar, as well as the new coach Mikel Arteta.
"Arsenal was informed about all the steps, the player and Hertha are clear. It’s only about the transfer fee of the clubs."
He said: "He played at Bournemouth, he played really well, he was very committed, he played a really good game.
"After the game he started to feel ill. He had a temperature and he wasn't feeling good. The last two days he's been in bed. That's why he's not been selected.
Asked if Xhaka wants to leave the side, Arteta simply stated: "I hope he doesn't leave."
Legit.ng earlier reported that Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka has agreed personal terms to join Hertha Berlin, but his Premier League club are yet to approve his move away from the Emirates stadium.
Back in October, Granit Xhaka fell out of favor at the Emirates stadium when he verbally attacked Arsenal fans who booed him against Crystal Palace.
There were reports after the incident claiming that Granit Xhaka has told his teammates that he would never play for Arsenal again when the transfer window opens.
