Arsenal defender David Luiz could have handed his ex-teammate N'golo Kante a-year-ending injury after throwing a reckless tackle against the Frenchman in their Premier League clash.

The Brazilian who joined the Gunners from Chelsea last summer aimed his boot studs at the Blues' midfielder's face towards the end of the first half of their meeting.

Luiz was however not severely punished for the needless tackle on the former Leicester City midfielder as he saw the remainder of the game according to SunSport.

Meanwhile, Chelsea rallied back from one goal down to beat Arsenal 2-1 at the Emirates Stadium last weekend.

Two late goals from Jorginho and Tammy Abraham helped the visitors outscore their rivals at the end of the meeting.

Frank Lampard's men trailed the Gunners from the 13th minute after Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang put the hosts ahead.

The home team took the lead into half time but with less than eight minutes, the Blues turned the situation around and ran off with maximum points.

Sunday's win also helped them return to winning ways after their 2-0 home defeat to Southampton in their previous game mid-last week.

The Blues travel to the Amex Stadium on New Year's day to battle Brighton and Hove Albion for three points.

They also maintain their top-four spot having amassed 35 points after 20 games, and they will hope they can finish well this season.

Meanwhile, Arsenal have slipped further down on the log despite changing their manager earlier this month.
