- Liverpool vs Wolves ended 1-0 in favour of the Reds as they moved 13 points clear in the Premier League
- Sadio Mane's 42nd minute strike was all Jurgen Klopp's men needed to claim victory
- VAR drama in the league continued as it correctly overturned Mane's goal which was earlier disallowed by the linesman but the technology disallowed Wolves equalizer
Liverpool moved 13 points clear in the Premier League after a 1-0 win against Wolves at Anfield stadium on Sunday, December 29.
Sadio Mane scored the only goal of the game in the 42nd minute from a Lallana assist.
Mane's goal was initially ruled out for handball but VAR was called into the frame, as the technology correctly overturned the Senegalese's disallowed goal, after Anthony Taylor had wrongly deemed that Adam Lallana handled the ball.
But there was going to be drama three minutes later as Wolves thought they had gotten their equalizer.
Pedro Neto thought he had levelled matters for the visitors at Anfield on the stroke of half-time, only for VAR and those dodgy lines to rule that Jonny Otto's hand was offside.
Despite Wolves throwing everything at their hosts, Liverpool held on to claim vital three points.
The Reds finished 2019 on a high note and moved 13 points clear in the Premier League following the victory.
Liverpool are also now unbeaten in 50 home league games (W40 D10).
This is only the third time any side has gone 50+ home matches without defeat in English top-flight history, after Chelsea (86 between 2004-2008) and Liverpool themselves (63 between 1978-1980).
