Restaurant turns down Prince Harry, Meghan Markle's reservation citing complex security detail

While the royal family have begun settling into Sandringham for the holidays, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry skipped on the festivities in favour of some family time abroad. had earlier reported that the duke and duchess of Sussex left for the Christmas holidays with their son Archie in Canada with Markle’s mother, Doria Ragland, but not everyone is ready to accommodate them.

This was after a Canadian seafood restaurant turned down a reservation from the royals during their Christmas break to Vancouver Island, the Insider reported.

Deep Cove Chalet, an upscale eatery in North Saanich, said that it decided not to take the request because their security detail makes them too difficult to host.

Their travel plans were confirmed by the palace noting the two had been frequent visitors to Canada over many years, and it was also home to The Duchess before she became a royal.

“They are enjoying sharing the warmth of the Canadian people and the beauty of the landscape with their young son," said the palace.

However, upon their arrival, the prime minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau, welcomed the royal family to the country.

“Prince Harry, Meghan, and Archie, we are all wishing you a quiet and blessed stay in Canada. You are among friends and always welcome here,” he tweeted.

Despite not taking them in for a meal, co-owned Bev Koffel wished the royal couple a pleasant break on Vancouver Island.

The restaurant is on the waterfront west of the Canadian mainland and has menu items like salmon tartare, steamed clams, poached lobster, and Dove sole.

Meghan and Harry's decision to spend the entire holiday season in England is reportedly not a snub against the Queen.

It is rather a desire to escape the spotlight for several weeks and Her Royal Highness is actually understanding of the situation.
