Deji Adeyanju petitions IGP over physical assault by pro-govt group

- Deji Adeyanju is seeking an investigation into the physical attack on him

- A group allegedly loyal to the President Muhammadu Buhari government recently attacked Adeyanju and other civil society activists

- Members of the group were shouting 'Sai Baba' while physically assaulting Adeyanju in an exclusive video by Legit.ng

Rights activist, Deji Adeyanju, is seeking an investigation into the physical attack on him and members of his coalition recently.

Adeyanju and other civil society activists were attacked in front of the National Human Rights Commission office in Abuja on Tuesday, December 24 while submitting a petition over the detention of the Revolution Now convener, Omoyele Sowore.

Sowore has since been released alongside former National Security Adviser, Colonel Sambo Dasuki (retd).

Currently in Dubai for medical attention, Adeyanju has petitioned the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu to apprehend those involved in the attack

He mentioned one Kabiru Dallah as the leader of the suspected miscreants who attacked him.

“The planned intent and the conspiracy of the invading group was obvious when they made for me and chased me to a point where I was manhandled, assaulted and seriously brutalised and my clothes were torn, while my valuables were stolen,” Adeyanju said in the petition.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported earlier that Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 presidential election condemned the attack on Adeyanju.

Atiku urged the government to protect persons who hold contrary views on any issues, demanding that those behind the attack on Adeyanju be brought to book.
