The Redeemed Christain Church of God (RCCG) has reacted to the death of a pastor and his two children in a swimming pool at the Costa del Sol, in the south of Spain on Christmas Eve, Tuesday, December 4.
The church said the death of Pastor Gabriel Diya, 52, and his two children at the resort is tragic.
A post by the church on Facebook said the RCCG extends its condolences to the family, parish, friends and associates of area pastor Gabriel Diya who sadly passed away alongside his two children.
According to the church, the incident occurred while the Diya family were vacationing in Spain leaving the pastor's wife and one other child devastated.
RCCG said: "With heavy hearts, we extend our condolences to the family, parish, friends and associates of area pastor Gabriel Diya who sadly passed away, along with two of his children… in a tragic incident while on a family holiday in Spain."
It further added that the church is offering prayers for the Diya family and the parishes that were under his supervision.
“At this very difficult time, our prayers are for Pastor Gabriel Diya’s family, the parishes that were under his supervision, friends, associates, members of RCCG and the general public," the church said.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that the incident occurred one of the pastor children, a nine-year-old Comfort was struggling in the pool while Diya had tried to rescue her with the help of her elder brother, 16.
All the members of the Diya family were said to have become unconscious in the pool and medical efforts to revive them were all abortive as the mother of the children looked on.

Also, the police in Spain they were investigating the pump and suction system for a possible failure, as well as testing the water although hotel officials said no issues have so far been found with the pool as the deaths were believed to be a "tragic incident".
A source within the family said none of the deceased knew how to swim.
A witness also said that the mother was praying for the father and the children while CPR was been performed on them at the resort.
