Edo APC crisis deepens as Obaseki says Oshiomhole's antics will fail

- Governor Obaseki said APC remains strong in Edo state Oshiomhole's alleged plan to create factions in the state would not work

- Obaseki added that President Buhari has asked him to deal with anybody engaging in anti-party activities

- The Edo state governor insisted that Oshiomhole has been suspended from the party, adding that INEC will soon conduct a fresh election to replace the lawmakers-elect whose were recently declared vacant

Godwin Godwin Obaseki has sent a strong warning to the All Progressives Congress (APC) national chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, as the crisis rocking the party deepens.

Obaseki said Oshiomhole's antics to create factions in the state would fail, adding that the APC national chairman no longer has the support of the Edo people, The Nation reports.

Legit.ng gathers that the Edo governor said the APC in the state is strong and united just as he claimed that President Muhammadu Buhari has asked him to deal with anybody involved in anti-party activities.

He vowed that those engaging in anti-party activities will be shown the way out.

Obaseki accused the Edo Peoples Movement (EPM), a faction of the APC in the state, of trying to frustrate his good plans for the state.

He insisted that Oshiomhole has been suspended from the party, adding that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) would soon conduct the election to replace members-elect of the state House of Assembly whose seats were recently declared vacant.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that the speaker of the Edo state House of Assembly, Francis Okiye, declared 14 seats vacant.

He subsequently asked INEC to conduct bye-elections for the affected constituencies within 90 days.

The 14 seats are those of the 12 members-elect who are yet to be inaugurated and two who allegedly stopped going to the state assembly after being inaugurated.
