- Biodun Ogunyemi has claimed that Nigeria have nothing to celebrate their Christmas
- According to him, the country's situation has made life unbearable for the citizens
- Ogunyemi said celebration is more meaningful when the ordinary Nigerians have access to qualitative education
Professor Biodun Ogunyemi, national president, Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), says poor Nigerians have nothing to celebrate their Christmas.
According to him, Nigeria's situation has made life unbearable for Nigerian masses while the few rich continue to enrich themselves at the expense of the majority.
He disclosed this in a message sent to members of the ASUU to mark Christmas.
Going further, he said celebration is more meaningful when the ordinary Nigerians have access to qualitative education, healthcare and other good things of life.
“Comrades & compatriots, as we join the rest of the world for the Christmas and New Year holidays, let’s look back with thanksgiving and prepare for the challenges of the future.
“The season of love reminds us of our obligations to the poor and downtrodden. Its celebration is more meaningful when the ordinary Nigerians have access to qualitative education, healthcare, and other good things of life,” he said.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that Ogunyemi explained that teaching in two different universities is in the best interest of the lecturers engaging in it.
Ogunyemi made this argument when he spoke at a forum organised by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja.
Noting that it was not criminal for lecturers to teach in two universities, Ogunyemi argued that the experience affords the lecturers an opportunity to understand and compare standards.
