- Shiites on Wednesday, December 25, paid a visit to Christians of the Church of the Advent, Samaru in Zaria, Kaduna
- The Muslims, led by Isa Hassan-Mshelgaru, said that they came in peace to celebrate Christmas with the Christians
- During their visit to the church, the Shiites preached peace and love to all Nigerians irrespective of the religions they practice
Despite being proscribed by the federal government, member of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria, called Shiites,on Wednesday, December 25, expressed love and care to Christians in Kaduna.
The Shiites paid a visit to the Church of the Advent, Samaru in Zaria to celebrate Christmas with members of the congregation.
The leader of the shiite team which visited the church, Isa Hassan-Mshelgaru, said that the move was to demonstrate their love, understanding and tolerance for persons who practice other religoins other that Islam.
Mshelgaru said that Shiites consider Christians as brothers and sisters and have absolutely nothing against them.
He said: “As they consider this day very important, we also consider it very important, we feel that we should come and visit them so that to clear some of the unnecessary imaginary boundaries that have been created.
“You can be a Muslim, a Christian or a traditionalist, always bear in mind that religion should be a platform for bringing people together not separating them."
Mshelgaru called on Nigerians to come together as one and form a united and formidle nation that will become the envy of other countries of the world.
In reaction to the move, the head of the church Reverend Isuwa Sa’idu, expressed his joy, excitement and happiness over the welcomed presence of the Shiites.
Sa'idu said: “In fact, I am so exited that they can think of a thing like this to come and visit us on Christmas Day celebration like this."
The cleric said that Nigerians have no other choice than to live together in peace, adding that what tears us apart is sheer misunderstanding.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that police officers reportedly clashed with Shi'ite group, on Friday on October 18.
The Shi'ite members were dispersed by the police after they went into the streets demanding for the release of their leader, Ibrahim El-Zakzaky.
