Top Christian leaders in Nigeria have sent series of messages to Nigerians as they celebrate the birth of Christ Jesus on Wednesday, December 25.

The clerics, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, Bishop David Oyedepo, TB Joshua, wished Nigerians a merry Christmas with important and soul-refreshing sermons, PM News reports.

The general overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Adeboye, said that the birth of Christ is a gift of pure peace to the world and that is the reason for the season.

He said: "We have been given the purest gift in Jesus Christ from the father. This is the reason for this season, Merry Christmas to you and yours."

Oyedepo of Faith Tabernacle (popularly called Winners Chapel) enjoin all Chrsitians to spend the day celebrating Christ.

The bishop stated: "Only the joyful become fruitful and except you are thankful, you cannot be joyful."

On his part, TB Joshua said: “We are here to celebrate the birth of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ! Love was born in Bethlehem. Peace was born in Bethlehem. Unity was born in Bethlehem."

Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that the leader of the roman Catholic church, Pope Francis, had given the world, especially Christians, his Christmas message.

Giving his sermon at St Peter's Basilica in the Vatican City in Italy on Wednesday, Decemeber 25, the pope hinged his message on unconditional love from God to mankind, Aljazeera reports.

The cleric said that even in man's evil ways, God continues to show his supreme love and limitless mercy.
