He was later arraigned in court by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). On December 29, 2015, he was released from DSS custody after perfecting his bail granted by the court. However, he was immediately re-arrested.

The DSS finally let Dasuki go on Tuesday following the order from the attorney-general of the federation and justice minister, Abubakar Malami, that he and the convener of #RevolutionNow protest, Omoyele Sowore, should be released.

According to Malami, the decision to release them was in compliance with the bail granted them by the court.
