Iba Gani Abiodun Ige Adams, the Aare Onakankanfo of Yorubaland, has called on the Nigerian federal government to use the festive periods to alleviate the sufferings of Nigerians.
Adams, who expressed worry at the present situation in the country lamented that the economy has been affected by circumstances in the country.
According to him, the government must do everything to cushion the effect of products, especially, during festive periods.
He disclosed this at the maiden edition of the Christmas Carol, organised by his office at All Seasons Plaza, Ikeja, Lagos.
"The federal government should use this festive period to alleviate the sufferings of ordinary citizens.
"This period seems to be the best period for the government to spread joy by providing the necessary facilities for the people," he said.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that Adams stated that true federalism is the best option for Nigeria.
Adams made the comment recently at the 2019 edition of Europe Summit, organised by the Oodua Progressive Union (OPU) in Zurich, Switzerland.
He urged the federal government to use the resolution of the 2014 National Conference, as well as the 1960-1963 Republican constitution as templates for restructuring.
Adams also noted that Nigerians in the diaspora have a role to play in projecting the image of the country positively to the world.
He encouraged members of the OPU to cultivate the habit of building enduring trust among members.
