Boko Haram attacks Borno again, 2 civilians dead, 13 wounded in Biu

- Boko Haram insurgents have attacked Biu in Borno state

- Two people were said to have lost their lives in the attack

- According to the state's deputy governor, 13 other people also sustained various degrees of wounds

In another Boko Haram attack in Borno state, two persons were killed at Biu town in Biu local government area of the state in the evening of Monday, December 23.

In the same attack, 13 people also sustained various degrees of wounds when the town was attacked, Daily Trust reports.

“Two persons confirmed dead and 13 persons sustained various degrees of injuries as a result of stray bullets while trying to escape for their dear lives.

“Thirteen victims are receiving treatment and in stable conditions, what remains is x-ray to be carried out on those with bullet wounds,” Hon Umar Kadafur, the state deputy governor, who visited Biu general hospital to sympathise with the victims said.

Recall that had reported that the Defence Headquarters, Abuja on Monday, December 23, countered the Borno state government on claims that Boko Haram took over some parts of the state.

The DHQ said that no territory was under the insurgents’ control, according to a report. had reported that Governor Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno decried recent attacks by Boko Haram insurgents on his state.

Zulum said he was in pain following the attacks by the sect members on some towns and villages in Askira-Uba local government area of the state within three weeks.

A statement by the governor's spokesperson, Malam Isa Gusau, said Zulum lamented that even though the Boko Haram has been confined to a particular area around Lake Chad, its members still found their ways to other parts of Borno for attacks.
