President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday, December 23, met behind closed doors with the chairman of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum (NGF), Kayode Fayemi, as well as the chairman of the Progressives Governors’ Forum (PGF), Atiku Bagudu.
Legit.ng reports that the president met separately with the two governors, with the first meeting with Fayemi at the president’s office.
It was gathered that Buhari later met with Bagudu, who was accompanied by his Jigawa counterpart, Abubakar Badaru.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the agenda of the two meetings were unknown to newsmen as at the time of filing this report. (NAN)
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had previously reported that the NGF said its members were working hard to meet the December 31 implementation deadline for the N30,000 minimum wage.
It was reported that the governors have already subscribed to paying the wage but the consequential impact on the upper cadre of their various workforce must be renegotiated.
Fayemi had on Wednesday, December 18, said while speaking with journalists in Abuja that the financial capabilities of the states vary.
He, however, said the governors have been engaging with the respective branches of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) to meet up with the deadline.

The governor also noted that the NLC was aware of the level of preparedness of states to pay, adding the governors were willing to make available to the union each state’s status of negotiation to clear any doubt.
