The Akwa Ibom state government has paid December salary to civil servants and other workers in its employ.
The state governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel gave the directive that all workers and pensioners in Akwa Ibom should receive their salary before Wednesday, December 25, so that they will have money to celebrate the Christmas with their families.
Legit.ng gathered that the salary of civil servants in Akwa Ibom state was being paid since Wednesday, December 18, while the pensioners are receiving theirs from Monday, December 23.
Already, civil servants in the state have thanked Governor Emmanuel for the prompt payment of their December salary, noting that it will reduce the hardship workers sometimes experienced during the yuletide period.
They also praised Governor Emmanuel for his concern for the welfare of workers in the state.
Similarly, Governor Emeka Ihedioha has directed the Imo state accountant general, to commence immediately the payment of December salaries to civil servants in the state and their counterparts at the local government level.
The directive was contained in a statement sent to journalists by the governor's chief press secretary, Chibuike Onyeukwu.
The governor also directed the payment of pensions to all pensioners in the state and local governments for the month of December.
