Boko Haram attacks aid workers in Borno, 3 feared killed, 2 kidnapped
- Insurgents in Borno on Sunday, December 22, attacked another set of aid workers
- During the attck, the terrorists killed about three of the humanitarian workers
- Until the time of writing this report, two of the workers are feared to have been kidnapped by the gunmen
An armed group, suspected to be members of Boko Haram, on Sunday, December 22, unleashed another attack on Humanitarian workers in Borno state.
According to a source who confirmed the sad incident, three of the aid workers are dead while two are no where to be found, Premium Times reports.
The source who spoke on condition of anonymity said that the attacked humanitarian workers were members of an international Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) known as Alima.
The source said: “I can confirm to you that the sad incident happened today along Monguno road but one cannot be certain about the actual figure yet.”
Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that the United Nation (UN) in Nigeria had expressed deep pain and regret over the killing of four of its aid workers by terrorists in the state.
Edward Kallon, the UN's humanitarian coordinator in Nigeria, reacted to the execution of the aid workers which was carried out by some gunmen on Friday, December 13.
Describing the development as sad and outrageous, Kallon revealed that the slain officals were among the six workers that were abducted in July 2019.
He pleaded for the immediate release of the kidnapped aid workers, among whom are Grace Taku and Alice Loksha.
Kallon said that the aid workers were only carrying out their humanitarian duties to the crisis-affected states of Borno, Adamawa and Yobe when they were killed, bringing the number of killed officials to seven since 2019.

President Muhammadu Buhari has condemned the act, describing it as evil. Calling on insurgents to lay down their weapons, the president said: “Evil will always be defeated by good at the end of the day."
