CAF awards: Mane, Salah, make final shortlist, Oshoala aim for 4th award

Premier League trio comprising Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Riyad Mahrez have been shortlisted as the final three players that would emerge new king of African football.

Mane and Salah helped Liverpool win the prestigious Champions League competition last season while Man City star Mahrez won the Premier League title and AFCON 2019 tournament.

Former Nigerian international Odion Ighalo has been dropped from the final three slots despite winning AFCON 2019 topscorer.

Gabon international Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was also snubbed even though he emerged as joint-top Premier League Golden Boot winner along with Mane and Salah.

In the women's category, Super Falcons striker Asisat Oshoala is in the running to win her fourth accolade following her impressive showing for club and country.

The 26-year-old will be battling with her closest rival Thembi Kgatlana and Cameroon's Ajara Njoya for the award.

Oshoala narrowly lost the 2018 award to South Africa's Kgatlana but the Barcelona striker is in a better position to scoop her fourth individual accolade.

Meanwhile, had earlier reported that Anthony Joshua and Riyad Mahrez's wife Rita were seen flirting in a VIP section of a club, reports claim.

According to The Sun, Rita was reportedly seen with her hand relaxed on the undisputed heavyweight champion's knees at London club Tape on Friday, December 20.
