- Oshiomhole says he does not want Obaseki to create another political structure in Edo
- The APC chairman accused the governor of attempt to strip him of power in the state
- According to him, this is the genesis of the problem with him
Adams Oshiomhole, national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has given reasons why he would not allow Governor Obaseki to create a new political structure in Edo state.
He disclosed this at a rally organised to welcome an erstwhile chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, Pastor Ize Iyamu into the APC in Edo state.
Tribune reports that Oshiomhole said Obaseki’s move to create an alternative power bloc in Edo state by deliberately stripping existing party leaders of their enormous influence in the APC Edo state chapter was the genesis of the cold war between him and the Edo state governor.
Going further, he said: ”A political party is like a forest, in that forest you have many animals. The politician is the guy who goes into this forest, knowing fully well that all the dangerous animals are there but he is going for the antelope or the grass cutter which he wants to use to feed his family. He goes there get his antelope or grass cutter home and feast without being crashed.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that a former national chairman of APC and the first executive governor of Edo state, John Oyegun, declared his total support for Obaseki's second term ambition.
Oyegun while speaking at a meeting of Edo indigenes in Abuja on Thursday, December 18, said Obaseki has managed to do some things the previous governors could not do in the interest of the people of Edo state.
