Muhammad Nami has officially assumed office as the new executive chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service.
A statement made available on the agency's Twitter page indicated that Nami assumed office at the Revenue House, FIRS Headquarters in Abuja on Thursday, December 19.
Speaking during his first meeting with management and staff of the revenue agency, Nami said he would work with everyone to ensure the agency achieve President Muhammadu Buhari’s aim of appointing him.
The new FIRS boss said he was aware of the task ahead of him just as he expressed his readiness to summon the courage to actualize this task.
He urged the staff to support and cooperate with him in the task of lifting Nigeria's economy from its current position.
Abiodun Aina, who acted as the executive chairman until Nami was confirmed by Senate, pledged his loyalty to the new FIRS boss, noting that there are challenges needing prompt solutions.
Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Nami officially replaced Babatunde Fowler as the executive chairman of the FIRS following the confirmation of his nomination by the Senate on Wednesday, December 18.
Recall that President Muhammadu Buhari had on Monday, December 9, nominated Nami to replace Fowler and sent his name to the Senate for confirmation.
