- Arsenal have endured a torrid spell in the opening weeks of the 2019/20 campaign
- The Gunners currently sit 10th on the log with just 22 points, an astonishing seven off the top four
- Their poor form can been attributed to individual performances of senior players some of who the club may consider offloading in January
With the January transfer window fast approaching, European clubs are already drawing up a shortlist of players they could potentially get rid of or buy.
Having had an arguably underwhelming start to the 2019/20 campaign, Arsenal are expected to rethink their transfer strategy during in winter.
Following the departure of Unai Emery towards the end of November, it was thought interim boss Freddie Ljungberg would turn around the club's fortunes and steady the ship.
However, things under the Swede have largely remained the same, with the north London outfit's disappointing run of results continuing.
But the January window would afford the Gunners a chance to buy bring in new legs and a grand opportunity to offload some of their ailing players.
Legit.ng now takes a look at four players the club should sell:
4. David Luiz
David Luiz may have joined the Gunners in August.
But the former Chelsea defender has failed to live up to his billing at Arsenal.
If his performances are anything to go by thus far, then it would be safe to conclude the Brazilian is now past his prime.
3. Granit Xhaka
The midfielder's confrontation with fans during Arsenal’s Premier League draw with Crystal Palace earlier in the campaign bore all the hallmarks of a player out of touch with the club's support base.
And having grown unpopular with supporters and emerged as a hugely divisive figure, it could be time for Arsenal to let him go.
2. Shkodran Mustafi
The Germany international may have often been scapegoated for Arsenal's poor performances.
However, it is also hard to absolve the former Schalke defender of any blame given he has been off the boil since his arrival at Arsenal in 2016.
It is understood Arsenal could not find a suitor for him in the summer, but the January window provides the club yet another chance to put him in the market.
1. Mesut Ozil
He is perhaps the only surprise in this shortlist.
It goes without saying that on his day, Ozil can be one of the best players in the Premier League.
But those days now seem a distant memory and the creative midfielder is undoubtedly regressing year by year.
And with his massive wages he draws weekly at Arsenal, a loan move appears more likely.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is reportedly planning to quit Arsenal if the club goes ahead to appoint Mikel Arteta as their new manager.
The Gunners have been coachless since the sack of former boss Unai Emery with Freddie Ljungberg temporarily in charge of the team.
