FG to spend N40m on 3 tricycle ambulances for Benue healthcare centre

The federal government, through its health ministry, is to purchase three tricycle ambulances for primary health care in Benue state at the sum of N40 million, The Nation has reported.
Broken down, it shows that each of the three tricycles would be purchased at the sum of N13.3 million.
The report said the information was sourced from the details of the 2020 budget just assented to by President Muhammadu Buhari.
It was learnt that Odessessa Primary Health Care (PHC) centre Okpokwu in Benue state was named in as the beneficiary of the three tricycles and it it is not stated if it is a constituency project or line procurement.

The report further noted that another N230 million was approved for the rehabilitation and supply of hospital equipment/drugs for primary health centres in the six geopolitical zones of the south-south, southwest, southeast, northeast, northwest and north-central.
The budget did not state the particular locations where the health facilities to be rehabilitated are located.
Furthermore, the ministry will be spending N100 million for the construction of blocks of classrooms with furniture in Ndokwa/Ukwuani federal constituency of Delta state.
The budget figure showed again that N200 million was earmarked for the supply of medical equipment and supply of medical equipment/drugs, respectively. It did not also provide details on the places the drugs and equipment would be delivered.
According to the report, it would, thus, be difficult to monitor and track the implementations of these budgetary provisions since the exact locations for their delivery are not listed.

The president disclosed this in a tweet on his Twitter handle. Buhari who signed the bill on his birthday expressed satisfaction that the National Assembly passed it expeditiously.
According to him, Nigeria's federal budget has been restored back to a January-December implementation cycle.
