The Supreme Court has affirmed Udom Emmanuel's election as the duly elected governor of Akwa Ibom state.
In a unanimous decision, the apex court dismissed the appeal brought by Nsima Ekere of the All Progressive Congress (APC) for lacking in merit.
The court agreed with the decision of the Court of Appeal in Calabar which affirmed Emmanuel's election on Wednesday, November 13.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared Governor Emmanuel of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) winner of the election during the Saturday, March 9, 2019 governorship elections.
Emmanuel defeated Nsima Ekere of the APC with a landslide victory.
