Nigerian-British, Chinyelu Onwurah, who won her re-election as a member of the parliament for Newcastle Central was formally sworn in on Tuesday, December 17.
It should be noted that shortly after her electoral victory, the politician went straight to her twitter page to show how grateful she was for the win, thanking those who chose her as their representative, the News Agency of Nigerian (NAN) reports.
The chairman of Nigerian in Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, also congratulated Onwurah, saying “hearty congrats and best wishes”.
She got into the parliament the first time in 2010 with a majority winning votes of 7,466.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that another Nigerian, Kemi Badenoch, won their re-election in the United Kingdom election under the Conservatives Party as she got her seat back as MP for Saffron Walden.
She won the election by a landslide with a whopping number of 39,714 votes to defeat her opponent Liberal Democrat Hibbs who scored 12,120.
Others who contested for the seat are Labour's Tom van de Bilt and the Green Party's Coby Wing who scored 8,305 and 2,947 votes respectively.
It should be noted that she was first elected in June this year where she became the first woman to represent the constituency.
In a good triumphal moment, the results that brought her in were declared as she walked in with her husband, Hamish, and their 12-week-old daughter, Ara.

She appreciated all her supporters, saying that she could not have done it without them, and promised to represent them well.
"I would like to thank each of the candidates, my family - my husband and daughter, who are here, and my two cheeky and cheerful children who have helped me get through a very cold and wintry election. I couldn't have done it without you.
"And I thank the constituents of Saffron Walden, from Chesterford to Chelmsford, everybody I have spoken to and who voted Conservative. I represent all the residents of this constituency, whoever you voted for,” she said.
