Major headlines of mainstream Nigerian newspapers for Monday, December 16, focus on the hurdles and crises that might hinder the smooth and immediate implementation of the 2020 budget which has already been approved by the National Assembly.

The Guardian reports that some difficulties which stand in the way of the implementation of the 2020 budget arise from the alleged uneven distribution of part of the N2.465 trillion capital projects to be carried out throughout Nigeria as well as the reported increase of figures for a lot of expenditure items.

The Nation reports that senators are requesting the sum of N37 billion for the renovation of the National Assembly complex in Abuja.

Added to this, N1 billion has been approved as the cost of amending the Nigerian constitution which will kick start in 2020.
