APC in Zamfara remains strong - ex-governor, Yari

- Ex-Zamfara governor, Yari, says APC in the northern state remains very strong despite fighting among members

- He told supporters that he would continue to work for a greater party through unity among members

- A peace move by Yari was rebuffed by ex-senator, Kabiru Marafa, who distanced himself from a peace meeting organised by the ex-governor

The immediate past governor of Zamfara state, Abdul'Aziz Yari, has boasted that the All Progressives Congress (APC) remains a strong party.

Yari told a crowd of party members who visited him at his residence from across 14 local government in the state that the party is still intact the state.

We are highly impressed with what we have witnessed today; this indicates that the APC remains strong and intact in the state.

”I thank you for your resilience in supporting the party in spite of the challenges.

“I am giving you the assurance that we will continue to provide good leadership to ensure peace and unity in our great party,” News Agency of Nigeria quoted Yari as saying.

Yari's words came just days after Legit.ng reported that there appeared to be no end in sight for the crisis bedevilling the APC in Zamfara state after one of the chieftains, Senator Kabir Garba Marafa, distanced himself from an alleged peace meeting to resolve the row.

Marafa dismissed being part of a reconciliatory meeting between him and a former governor of the state, Abdulaziz Yari.

Marafa, however, restated his loyalty to the APC, particularly his faction in the state.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng also reported that a fresh plot to remove the embattled national chairman of the APC is reportedly being hatched by state governors on the platform of the ruling party.

The state governors are already considering the former governor of Zamfara state, Yari, as Oshiomhole’s successor.
