Gbajabiamila intervenes as ICPC declares federal lawmaker wanted
- Shehu Koko Mohammed, the lawmaker declared wanted by the ICPC, is set to appear before the commission
- This is following the intervention of the House speaker, Gbajabiamila, who assured the ICPC that Mohammed would appear before the commission as required of him
- The ICPC said it accepted Gbajabiamila's assurance and will be expecting Mohammed to honour the invitation on Monday, December 16
Shehu Koko Mohammed, a member of the House of Representatives, was on Thursday, December 12, declared wanted by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).
Mohammed was declared wanted after he repeatedly failed to appear before the ICPC over an ongoing investigation against him.
The lawmaker who is representing f Koko/Besse Federal Constituency had reportedly failed to perfect his administrative bail and ignored the commission’s invitations.
However, a statement made available to Legit.ng on Saturday, December 14, indicated that the speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, has intervened in the matter.
ICPC's spokesperson, Rasheedat Okoduwa, said Gbajabiamila has given assurance that the wanted lawmaker will appear before the anti-graft commission as required of him.
Okoduwa said the commission has accepted Gbajabiamila's assurance and will be expecting Mohammed to honour the invitation on Monday, December 16.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had previously reported that one of the senators representing Imo state in the Senate was accused of converting a constituency project to his personal hotel.
It was reported that the ICPC made the stunning revelation on Monday, December 9.
It was also alleged that another federal lawmaker, who procured tricycles and buses in the name of constituency project, also packed them in his residence without giving it to his constituents.
