Victor Osimhen misses chance to score 10th Ligue 1 goal after losing penalty

- Victor Osimhen squandered a chance to increase his French League goal tally to ten in 2-1 win over Montpellier

- The Super Eagles striker was presented with a late minute spot-kick but it was saved by the visitors' keeper

- A goal each from Ikone and Sanches rendered Delort's effort a mere consolation at the end of the game

Nigerian football star Victor Osimhen fired blanks in Lille's 2-1 win over Montpellier in Friday’s Ligue 1 clash at the Stade Pierre Mauroy.

The 20-year-old had the opportunity to score his tenth French league goal through the spot-kick but played into the hands of the visitor's goalkeeper Geronimo Rulli in the 90th minute.

Although, his failure to convert the penalty did not in any way hurt the home team as they claimed maximum points at the end of the encounter.

Meanwhile, the Super Eagles striker won the foul moments before the goal was converted after being fouled by the opponent's keeper.

Andy Delort tapped-in from the goal-mouth to restore parity for the visitors after running into space to connect with Florent Mollet's pass from the right flank.

Renato Sanches sealed the win for his side with a sumptuous finish after dribbling his way into the opponent's danger zone before firing a close-range shot into the back of the net.

The former Bayern Munich winger benefited from Ikone's pass before driving straight into the away side's danger zone and unleashed an unstoppable shot.
