Obaseki not ready for settlement - Oshiomhole

- It seems that the crisis rocking the APC in Edo state may keep stretching

The All Progressives Congress (APC)'s national chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, has claimed that Governor Godwin Obaseki has continued to indicate unreadiness and unwilling to begin moves that will resolve the crisis ravaging the party in Edo.

Oshiomhole said that Obaseki has been absenting himself from crucial meetings organised to address controversial issues in the state's chapter of the party, The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.

The APC boss said that in a case of rivalry and grievances, the only way forward is persuasion and listening to complaints, not violence.

Oshiomhole said: “The governor has been refusing and avoiding an all-inclusive meeting where all issues would have been tabled and resolved.

“Four governors volunteered to attend the meeting but he has consistently refused to attend the meeting. The only way to iron out issues is to sit down and listen to complaints."

He added that he stayed away from the APC rally in the state in order to avoid people wrecking havoc and causing unrest on his account.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that the purported rally of the APC in Edo scheduled for Friday, December 20, had widened the rift between the national chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomhole and Governor Godwin Obaseki.

A number of defectors from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) led by Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu are to be welcomed into the APC at the said rally.

On his part, Obaseki, speaking to journalists at the state secretariat of the ruling party, said that he is not aware of any rally. He added that as a matter of safety, the party has put in place certain measures to ensure the security of lives and properties, especially during the yuletide.
