Former Super Eagles striker Odion Ighalo has suffered a great loss after losing his elder sister to the cold hands of death on December 12, 2019.

Although the cause of her departure is yet to be disclosed, the China-based forward posted the news on his social media pages with the caption 'R.I.P sister 12-12-19 .

The former Watford attacker who won the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations golden boot for scoring the most goals at the tournament shared pictures of himself with his late sister in the same post.

He hanged his international boots after the championship which was staged in Egypt in the summer.

Ighalo recently won his first career title after winning lifting the Chinese FA Cup title with Shanghai Shenhua following their 3-1 aggregate victory over Shandong Luneng earlier this month.

The 30-year-old was an unused substitute in the match that saw the Flower of Shanghai overturned their 1-0 deficit in the second leg with three second-half goals.

Legit.ng earlier reported that Odion Ighalo has hinted that he could be wearing the green and white colors of Nigeria again after few months of retiring from international football.

The Shanghai Shenhua striker announced his retirement shortly after the AFCON 2019 tournament in July.

Ighalo finished the tournament as top scorer with five goals which earned him a nomination for the men's African Footballer of the Year.
