Why we want Africans to come to Nigeria without visa - Immigration

- The NIS has given reasons why it is adopting visa on arrival for Africans policy

- According to Babandede, the decision was to accelerate African Integration

- Going further, he disclosed that it would also remove barriers hindering free movement of people within the continent

Following the controversy that followed its visa on arrival for Africans policy, the comptroller general, Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Muhammed Babandede, says the decision was to accelerate African Integration.

This was disclosed in a statement in Abuja by Sunday James, the NIS public relations officer.

According to him, Babandede said the decision would remove barriers hindering free movement of people within the continent, Daily Trust reports.

Recall that Legit.ng had reported that the federal government gave the approval allowing all Africans to come to Nigeria without visa starting from January 2020.

Babandede, made this known at the inauguration of the Africa–Frontex Intelligence Community (AFIC) on Wednesday, December 11, in Abuja.

”But we cannot succeed without a tool like AFIC. This tool is keen if we want to implement an effective free movement across our border.

“The tool is actually coming at the right time. AFIC would help African countries especially Nigeria that want to open its border for all Africans to enter at will. And now that tool is available, it would make the work easier for us,” he said.
