Oshiomhole: I'm the he-goat of Edo politics

In reaction to claims and rumours that he has been placed on house arrest, the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomole, has said that he is the proverbial he-goat of politics in Edo state.

Oshiomhole said this on Friday, December 13, at his residence in Benin city as he received Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, who recently defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC, PM News reports.

The APC boss said that he has resigned to his fate as one who is always at the receiving end in every political crisis in the state.

He said that he was never shocked when he heard the insinuations that allegedly came from Edo Government House because he is usually the one sacrificed to achieve peace in times of unrest.

Oshiomhole said: “In the traditional Nigerian society, when the family child is sick, and you go and consult the traditional native doctor, he will ask them to sacrifice a he-goat, so that witches and wizards will not kill the child.

“On the hand, when a baby is born or they are celebrating birthday or something good is happening to the family, they get a he-goat, they slaughter and celebrate. So, either way, the he-goat is in trouble."

He added that God knows his heart that he means well for the APC, the government and people of the state. Oshiomhole expressed his gratitude to supporters of the ruling party in Edo whose efforts have helped to sustain the state.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that a new plot to remove Oshiomhole was being hatched by state governors on the platform of the ruling party.

The state governors are already considering the former governor of Zamfara state, Abdulaziz Yari, as Oshiomhole’s successor.
