The institution of marriage is something many people regard as important and this is the main reason a lot of people are applying extra care when choosing a partner, making sure it is for the right reasons as well.

While others have been lucky with having successful marriages, it isn't always the case. CNN correspondent, Stephanie Busari, recently opened up about her failed marriage as she marked its anniversary.

While advising young ladies against rushing into marriages, she revealed that she got married due to the pressure from her parents and family. However, the marriage crashed after 3 years. She stated that although she is thankful for her daughter, she left that marriage with some regrets.

In a series of tweet, she wrote: "Ten years ago today I got married. It lasted 3 years and I came away with a beautiful daughter and a heart full of (some) regrets. Does one mark such an auspicious occasion? Or just quietly acknowledge as one of the hopes and dreams that didn’t quite pan out?

I got married largely due to pressure. It enveloped me like a cloud. Every time an embossed handwritten envelope thudded through the letter box ‘inviting the pleasure of my parents company.’ I heard my mother’s heavy sigh, my father’s questioning glances.

Despite all my achievements, I was flying high in my career. I had bought a flat, all before 30, I felt like a failure because I wasn’t married. Parents have their own timeline for your life. You must create and embrace yours and BE HAPPY with your choices.

According to her, some women feel like Mr Right Now is better than Mr Right, as long as they become a Mrs. She noted that the sadness of an unhappy marriage turns you into a shell of who you are.

She stated that her ex-husband was not a bad person, but they were just not compatible.

Meanwhile, romantic relationships aren't known to be without problems. However, there are some issues that just seem to take the cake. A Nigerian man who was celebrated online for marrying a 3-times divorcee and mother of 4, has abandoned the marriage.

In a series of post on Instagram, the man identified as Emmanuel Cole alleged that she deceived him into marrying her by lying about helping him to get an Australian visa. Cole stated that she began cheating with a taxi driver, which later led him to walk out of the marriage.
